Excellent book for students to learn preclinical prosthodontics... Everything from the very basics of prosthodontics to the extensive laboratory procedures are explained in a very systematic and comprehensive way...The major highlights I see are the inclusion of important viva questions at the end of each chapter and a beautiful description and illustration of the instruments used in prosthodontics ....Each chapter is enriched with the related theory part as well...I strongly recommend this book which will be of great help for students...

Manual of preclinical prosthodontics authored by Prof. Suja Joseph aims to be a succinct guide to students of dentistry, dental technology and early practitioners of prosthodontics. It is segmented into twenty one chapters including basic subjects of dental technology and the most advanced dental implantology. The chapters in the book appear to be systematically organised and the book begins with definitions and explanations related to prosthodontics. This textbook is easy to read and navigate through. Important facts are laid out in 'Key Points' boxes and crucial definitions are outlined. The content is largely well written, offering a ready reference to key points. The use of clearly described and labeled images effectively complements the text. It is interesting to note that hardly very few pages are left without a figure and that makes the book highly appealing and readable. Traditionally challenging topics are made more comprehensible by the matter of fact style adopted by the authors. If a reference section was added, it would have helped the readers who wanted to further their knowledge. During this pandemic season, dental education is facing a challenging situation. Students are stressed because they lack direct contact with the teachers and totally devoid of clinical and laboratory sessions which would have made them skillful. Text books written in a style which is easily understood by the young students will definitely compensate the lacuna of the online teaching. I have no reservations in recommending this book to the BDS students of Indian universities and the students who have enrolled for the dental technology course approved by the Dental Council of India.
