FOREWORD BY - Dr. Saheer Sainalabdeen M:

I have great pleasure in writing the foreword to the book entitled "Pulmonary Medicine: A Practical Guide" written by Dr. Akhil Paul. The author has maintained simplicity and readability throughout the book that would help a beginner and expert alike enjoy reading and understanding. The book is in a format that wish I had when I was doing my specialist registrar training.

The handbook is divided into two sections - General Pulmonology and Pulmonary Emergencies, with useful appendices covering important figures, tables and flowcharts. I would like all registrars to enjoy their specialist training, and I believe in doing so, he will prosper and reach new heights in the field of medicine. This book I believe will make this endeavor easier by moving the theoretical knowledge in big books into a pocket book as a practical guide.

I pray to God almighty that this book becomes popular and reach the deserved ones as Dr. Akhil Paul has taken tremendous pain in preparing the book for upcoming registrars.

Mark Twain famously quoted - "It is noble to teach oneself, but still nobler to teach others."

NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR:

Pulmonary Medicine: A Practical Guide covers the management protocols of most common respiratory diseases and emergencies. This reference book can guide all those involved in  managing respiratory illnesses, including consultants, postgraduate trainees and the rest of the medical team. The content of this book will give a skeletal framework to start and guide the therapy, and the treating physician can later add to that to optimize the treatment. Going through this guide at the beginning of the career itself will provide enough confidence in case management.
